MULTACOM Is Awarded SOC 2 Type 2 Certification for Exceeding Strict Data Center Controls (press release)

Independent auditor’s report once again affirms the Company’s commitment to stringent security controls and processes with no exceptions noted.

Los Angeles, CA, February 25, 2020MULTACOM, the web host that makes the net work, is pleased to announce that the Company has once again been awarded SOC 2 Type 2 certification after the successful completion of a facilities and network infrastructure examination by an independent, third-party auditor. The positive review of MULTACOM’s data center security controls, reliability standards, and processes, means that MULTACOM customers can feel confident in the quality, security, and effectiveness of the Company’s data center operations.

The resulting auditor’s report states that “no exceptions were noted,” which has been the case in all previous MULTACOM SOC 2 Type 2 audits. The Company’s system was determined to be “fairly presented, with controls suitable to provide reasonable assurance that the application trust services criteria would be met.” In addition, “all controls tested were found to be operating effectively throughout the test period.”

The Trust Services Principles of security, availability, processing integrity, confidentiality, and privacy, which drive online transactions and the exchange of sensitive information are evident in the implementation of MULTACOM’s stringent security controls and processes for its dedicated server, hosting, and colocation services. Businesses across Los Angeles and Southern California benefit from this commitment to data center excellence and can feel confident that their data is monitored by and maintained in a highly secure environment. It also assists them in demonstrating their own compliance with regulations such as HIPAA and PCI.

“The importance of being able to demonstrate to our clients that we have exceeded SOC 2 Type 2 requirements can not be overstated. Our customers expect and deserve a data center that continually makes security, availability, processing integrity, and privacy of their electronic data a priority. The high standards we set for ourselves are recognized when our network is reported to meet stringent SOC 2 requirements with no exceptions noted,” said Kiarash Jahangiri, chief executive officer at MULTACOM. “I applaud the commitment and dedication of our MULTACOM team which enables us to uphold these standards year after year and thank them for their constant attention on behalf of our clients.”

A SOC 2 report assesses a service organization’s design and operating effectiveness of procedures and system controls and discloses compliance concerns. In 2017, an updated version of the SOC 2 framework was released and has been implemented on all engagements with an end period on or after December 15, 2018. This new framework was integrated with the widely used Committee of Sponsoring Organizations of the Treadway Commission (COSO) framework, and better addresses cybersecurity risks. Greater detail was also added to some areas such as Logical and Physical Access Controls, System Operations, Change Management, Risk Mitigation and others. This detail, along with the integration of COSO’s Points of Focus, allow auditors to more completely and accurately evaluate that organizational controls are designed and operating effectively.

Unlike SOC 2 Type 1 reporting which is a measure of one individual point in time, a SOC 2 Type 2 audit measures an organization’s effectiveness over a significantly longer period of time – generally one year. As a result, MULTACOM’s SOC 2 Type 2 certification demonstrates the company’s ongoing commitment to data center excellence across all client networks and is continually tested and maintained by skilled MULTACOM engineers.
